All our pure Uppada pattu sarees are made in the Uppada village of Andhra Pradesh state. These come in vibrant saree colors. Uppada sarees are very popular for their light weight, ease of maintenance, and low cost. The Uppada Jamdani design sarees are popular and follow the Jamdani weaving technique. It is one of the most advanced weaving techniques.

How are Andhra Uppada Sarees made?

Uppada pattu sarees are made using pure silk yarn. Begins with drawing motifs on graph paper. The bundle yarn is divided according to the saree’s length. Heat-resistant polythene is used to dye the body and pallu. The warp and weft undergo the dyeing process, ensuring rich, uniform colors across the saree. The silk yarn is set on a handloom. Adding the intricate designs to the plain saree is a labor-intensive task, requiring expert craftsmanship. Individual spools are used to incorporate motifs, borders, and intricate patterns. Using pure gold and silver zari (threads) further enhances the saree’s pallu grandeur.

The effort and skill required, combined with the time-consuming nature of the craft, result in a limited production, making each silk saree truly precious.
